Get to know Joy
Reaching out for support is not always easy, especially when life feels overwhelming, stressful, or uncertain. If you're here exploring counselling, you've already taken an important first step.
I'd like to introduce myself so you can get a sense of who I am, how I work, and whether we may be a good fit to work together. I am a nature-loving, artful soul who finds deep happiness in life's simple, peaceful moments. These values continue to shape my counselling approach, which emphasizes compassion, authenticity, and meaningful connection.
My interest in counselling began while studying for a bachelor's degree in social welfare, particularly through a Family Therapy course that sparked a deeper curiosity about relationships, healing, and personal growth.
Many of the clients I work with have spent years coping through perfectionism, people-pleasing, emotional suppression, anxiety, or the lingering effects of painful life experiences. My work focuses on helping clients understand these patterns, heal from trauma, regulate their nervous system, and reconnect with a stronger and more authentic sense of self through EMDR, somatic therapy, and evidence-based approaches.

As someone who has lived across different cultures, I understand the complexity of navigating identity, belonging, family expectations, and cultural differences. These experiences help me support clients from diverse cultural backgrounds with curiosity, respect, and compassion.
I provide online counselling, EMDR therapy, and trauma-informed psychotherapy for adolescents and adults across Alberta, Ontario, and Saskatchewan.
My own journey has taught me the importance of self-compassion, resilience, and understanding how past experiences shape the present. It would be my privilege to support you as you heal, grow, and reconnect with your authentic self.
