There are some insurance companies that do cover counseling services, but coverage is not consistent within or across insurance companies. Some plans may cover counseling services provided by a Canadian Certified Counselor, while others may not. Coverage may be possible with the following insurance companies depending on the plan: Sun Life Canada, Empire Life, Equitable Life of Canada, Great-West Life, Green Shield Canada, GroupHEALTH, Johnston Group, Manulife, Blue Cross, and SSQ insurance. However, coverage is not automatic and it is the client's responsibility to contact their insurance company to determine if counseling services are included in their plan and to verify the approved service providers under the plan.
