EMDR Intensive Therapy with Somatic‑Based Stabilization
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a trauma‑focused therapy that helps the brain and body process overwhelming experiences.
Joy provides EMDR Therapy—a gentle, body-centered path toward lasting healing and internal peace.
If you have been feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or exhausted by reactions that feel beyond your control, please know that you are not broken. What you are experiencing is your nervous system’s natural response to carrying more than it was meant to hold. Real, deep healing is possible, and you do not have to navigate it alone.
Is EMDR Right for You?
If any of the experiences below feel familiar, EMDR with a stabilization‑focused approach can offer a steady, compassionate path toward restoring safety, calm, and a deeper sense of connection within yourself:
-
Trauma Memories: Feeling overwhelmed by sudden emotional flooding, intrusive body reactions, or unexpected triggers.
-
PTSD / CPTSD: Living with constant hypervigilance, high emotional intensity, or a system that always feels on alert.
-
Anxiety & Panic: Being caught in an endless "fight-or-flight" loop that makes true rest feel impossible.
-
Childhood & Attachment Wounds: Navigating painful, repeating relational patterns rooted in early life experiences.
-
Dissociation & Overwhelm: Feeling disconnected, numb, or "spaced out," making it difficult to feel grounded in the present.
-
Somatic Symptoms: Carrying unexplained physical tension, tightness, or "freeze" responses in your body.
-
Negative Core Beliefs: Struggling with persistent internal scripts like "I am not safe" or "I am not enough."
-
Grief & Loss: Finding it difficult to digest and integrate painful, life-altering changes.

Why Somatic Stabilization Matters in EMDR Therapy?
When we experience trauma or chronic stress, our bodies unconsciously store that survival energy. This is why, even long after a threat has passed, your nervous system can remain stuck on high alert—leaving you feeling constantly tense, numb, or overwhelmed. To help you heal, we begin with Somatic Stabilization, a process that releases physical tension and helps your body feel grounded and secure. Once this stable foundation is built, we use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). By using gentle bilateral stimulation like eye movements or tapping, EMDR helps your brain naturally reprocess and integrate "stuck" painful memories. As your internal alarm system settles, the past stops overwhelming your present, allowing both your mind and body to return to a state of true safety and lasting peace.
How Joy Works With You?
My practice brings together EMDR and somatic therapy to create a space where your nervous system can truly feel safe enough to heal. We start with grounding and resourcing, working in small, manageable pieces so you stay fully present and in control. As your system settles, many people begin to notice more emotional room, clearer thinking, and a sense of ease in their body — the quiet beginning of real integration. Every session is shaped around what your nervous system needs in the moment, never rushed or pushed, but steady, safe, and responsive to you.

EMDR Intensive Therapy
EMDR Intensives offer focused, extended time for deeper healing, especially when you want steady momentum. In this work, EMDR reprocessing simply helps your brain finish processing memories that once felt overwhelming. Gentle left‑right movements, taps, or sounds—called bilateral stimulation—help both sides of your brain work together, much like what happens during restful sleep. As this happens, stuck memories begin to soften and lose their emotional intensity, all while you stay fully present and in control. Many clients appreciate the continuity, the sense of support, and the feeling that things finally have room to shift.
Stabilization Sessions (50 minutes): These early-phase sessions focus on grounding, resourcing, and nervous system regulation. We ensure your body feels steady and safe before any deeper memory work begins.
Extended EMDR Processing Sessions (80 minutes): A spacious, highly supported format designed to gently work through overwhelming memories. (Note: 50-minute processing sessions are also available whenever that pace feels safer for your nervous system. If your system ever needs more time to stabilize, we simply slow down and stay there).
